On March 9, 2024, the highlight of the 18th annual Korean Day event series was organized by UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences. The performers combined Korean and Indonesian culture through the costumes they wore and added touches of Indonesian culture to their performances, such as performing both Korean and Indonesian songs.
This year, Korean Day took the theme “Hallyunesia Wonderland” to celebrate Indonesian and Korean culture. The event was also enlivened by performances of various dongari (clubs) of the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program, namely Samulnori, Hansamchum, Katharsis Sing, Katharsis Dance, Talchum, and Buchaechum. This year’s Korean Day event venue provided food, drink and accessory tenants. Random Play Dance session and the perfomance of guest star, Nadafid, were the highlight of the event. Then, there was also a Noraebang (Korean karaoke) session which was also the conclusion of the Korean Day 18th event.
The success of the 18th Korean Day event cannot be separated from the support of the event sponsors, namely Grab Indonesia, King Sejong Institute Yogyakarta, Barenbliss, Nongshim Inc, KB Bank, Korea Tourism Organization, Cabaca, Sate Ratu, and Mitra Catering H. The entire series of 18th Korean Day events is expected to be an inspiration for Korean cultural lovers, and can provide a platform for creativity and community while encouraging the preservation of Indonesian culture.
