Yogyakarta, September 6, 2024 – The Korean Language and Culture Program, in collaboration with Kagama Korea, once again awarded scholarships to several selected students. The scholarships were presented on September 6, 2024, in Room 707, Soegondo Building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM. The scholarship was granted to ten students from the 2022 and 2023 cohorts of the Korean Language and Culture Program. The event was attended by all the scholarship recipients and was enlivened by performances from students of the 2024 cohort. The Kagama Korea scholarship presentation was represented by Prof. Yang Seung-yoon, the Chairman of the Special Branch of Kagama Korea, South Korea.
The event opened with remarks from Mr. Suray Agung Nugroho, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., as a representative of the Korean Language and Culture Program. Afterward, the scholarships were presented to the ten recipients, who were: Nasywa Athallah Putri, Raissa Aneswari, Ammara Meutia Fazilatunnisa Syahrial, Febryani Dhea Khusnulia, Salwa Aulia Maharani, Alma Naya Kamila, Regita Syalwa Fara Nesa, Margareta Maria Drieandra Krisandanti, Khalisha Zukhrufa Hayya Risatmoko, and Bunga Matahari. Following the scholarship presentation, the event continued with the handing over of the Korean History Book, written by Prof. Yang Seung-yoon, to the students of the 2024 cohort of the Korean Language and Culture Program. Prof. Yang also gave a brief lecture on the uniqueness of Hanja, the character system used in East Asian languages.
The Kagama Korea Scholarship and the Korean History Book provided to the students are expected to support and enhance the students’ potential. Additionally, this event is hoped to serve as a medium for the continued collaboration between the program and Kagama Korea, as well as to motivate students of the Korean Language and Culture Program to keep growing.
