Komets 101 is an annual event held by the External Affairs Department of HIMAHARA, which aims to introduce the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program or Study Program Review to the wider community, especially for students who want to continue their studies. In the previous year, the name given was Kometshow, but this year the committee wanted to make a new theme.
Themed “Produce 101”, we want to include Korean elements that are very characteristic of the South Korean entertainment world, namely survival shows, besides that we give the meaning of 101 is the introductory part because we hope this event can be an introductory part for students who want to know more about the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program. In addition, we also give a nickname to the participants, Rookies, of course because it includes elements of the characteristics of this idol country, but besides that, we interpret Rookies as people who are preparing to enter the world of college.
Komets 101 was held online via Zoom. The webinar took place on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. The event consisted of an opening, remarks, speaker materials, games, and a question and answer session with webinar participants. The webinar opened with remarks from the faculty representing the programs, the chairman of HIMAHARA, and the CEO.
There were four speakers in this webinar, namely Triana Deninta N.B. who introduced IISMA to the UK and talked about IISMA, Amelinda W.A., the program administrator who introduced more about the program, Jodie Anisya K. who introduced student exchange to South Korea and talked about student exchange, and Kim Taehyun as a guest star who is an exchange student from BUFS at UGM. The event was fun because the participants were very active in asking questions during the question and answer session. Komets 101 also received a positive response from the participants, various thanks and comments about the excitement of this webinar. The committee also uploaded content related to Komets 101 on tiktok, which went viral and received many positive responses. It is hoped that more people will learn about UGM’s Korean language and culture program.
