Yogyakarta, June 26, 2025 – The Korean Language and Culture Program (BKK) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) collaborated with Cyber Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (CUFS), South Korea, to hold a cultural exchange event at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) UGM. This activity aimed to promote mutual understanding between Indonesian and Korean cultures while strengthening collaboration between students and institutions.
The event opened with welcoming remarks from Mr. Suray Agung Nugroho (UGM) and Prof. Cho Minsung (CUFS). Following the remarks, both universities exchanged souvenirs as a symbol of friendship and ongoing collaboration.
Students from the BKK Program kicked off the cultural exchange session by presenting a profile video of UGM, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, and the Korean Language and Culture Program, offering a glimpse into the academic environment on campus. They also introduced a brief history of Indonesia, the founding of UGM, and highlights of the BKK program. In response, student representatives from CUFS (Department of Vietnamese and Indonesian Studies) shared key information about CUFS—including its location, academic departments, and student activities.
To lighten the atmosphere, ice-breaking activities and games were held, creating a lively and enjoyable interaction among participants.
The event concluded with a campus tour around UGM, allowing CUFS students to experience the academic and cultural environment of UGM firsthand.
Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage in this meaningful exchange. Many noted that such activities are essential for broadening perspectives, building networks, and fostering mutual respect across cultures. Through this event, UGM and CUFS demonstrated that cultural exchange is not only about sharing traditions, but also about shaping a globally inclusive and sustainable educational future.
