On 11th of November 2023, the Korean Language and Culture study program Gadjah Mada University  held a series of annual events Korean Day entitled “Beat The Quests: Road to Korean Day UGM” and brought a theme called “Hallyunesia Wonderland”.

This one-day event presented a mix of cultures Indonesian and Korean culture that have been displayed through various participant performances Sing Cover Competition and Dance Cover Competition. The participants assimilated these two cultures through the costumes they wore by giving a touch of Indonesian culture and also singing Korean pop song’s cover and dance performances

Not only the costumes of the competition participants, Beat The Quests: Road to Korean Day UGM was also enlivened by performances by dongari (clubs) for Language and Language Study Programs UGM Korean culture, namely Samulnori, Hansamchum (Dance in Undershirt), Catharsis (modern dance group), Talchum (mask dance), and Buchaechum (fan dance). Each performance received a good response from the visitors. Enthusiasm peaked in the Random Play Dance session and the Noraebang (live-mass karaoke) session which also served as the closing event for Beat The Quests: Road to Korean Day UGM.

The success of organizing the Beat The Quests: Road to Korean Day UGM event was not successful without the support provided by the event sponsors, Bank KB Bukopin and King Sejong Institute Yogyakarta.

The Beat The Quests: Road to Korean Day UGM event is one of the series of events for the 18th Korean Day that have been completed and the highlight of the event for example, the 18th Korean Day Festival which will be held in the first quarter in 2024 is expected to be a meaningful creative event for fans of Korean culture while continuing to promote the preservation of Indonesian culture.
