Jakarta, July 16-17, 2024 – Hanifa Arneta Rahmah Rausyanfikri (2023), a student from the Korean Language and Culture Program at UGM, participated as a panelist in the “World Population Day: Advancing Future Generations in Indonesia and Korea, Academic Conference by the Korea-Indonesia Connection (KIC) Committee and the Faculty of Social and Political Science of Universitas Indonesia.” The event was held for two days, Tuesday-Wednesday, July 16-17, at the Mochtar Riady Auditorium, 2nd Floor, FISIP UI, Depok.

Hanifa had the opportunity to present on the second day of the conference. She presented her paper titled “Indonesian Coffee Products in South Korea: An Aspect of Mutual Prosperity Between Two Countries” in the panel titled Economic and Social Welfare. Below is Hanifa’s reflection on her participation as a panelist in the “World Population Day: Advancing Future Generations in Indonesia and Korea Academic Conference by Korea-Indonesia”:

“When I saw the KIC competition poster, I was immediately interested and quickly contacted the responsible lecturer to ask what I should research and write. After repeatedly asking for feedback, I applied with the hope of advancing to the next stage and becoming a presenter. After waiting, I received a notification that I had been selected as a KIC presenter. I immediately informed my parents and lecturer that I would be going to Jakarta to present for the first time. The preparation was hectic because I had to create the PowerPoint presentation, prepare, and rehearse my speech in a short amount of time. When it was my turn to present, I was very nervous because public speaking is a skill outside of my comfort zone. However, from the essay submission to being selected and presenting, I learned many lessons and gained valuable insights. I was exposed to new material presented by other speakers in an engaging manner. Although I was very nervous while presenting, I hope this is not my last opportunity to participate in such events, and I can continue to learn and evaluate myself.” – (Hanifa, 2023)
