Komets 101 is an annual event held by the External Affairs Department of HIMAHARA, which aims to introduce the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program or Study Program Review to the wider community, especially for students who want to continue their studies. In the previous year, the name given was Kometshow, but this year the committee wanted to make a new theme.
March 18, 2023 ㅡ Korean Language and Culture Student Association (HIMAHARA) held the first work program of its cabinet, ARIYA cabinet, in cooperation with Sejong Haktang on Saturday (18/3) at Margono Building Room 303, Faculty of Cultural Sciences. The event was held with the aim of introducing Korean mask dance culture (탈춤) to the general public.
On March 8, 2023, Korean Culture Center Indonesia announced the holding of Online Sing Cover Contest 2023. UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program sent one of its students to participate in the contest, namely Mustafiah Luthfiani Wibowo from the class of 2019. Mustafiah has previously been active in the choir of PARAMADAYA FIB UGM as well as in group singing with Katarsis (one of the extracurricular students of UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program). Not only that, at the Korean Days 2022 event, Mustafiah also enlivened the event by performing as one of the band singers. She is known to have a beautiful voice and loves to sing. She also often uploads singing cover videos with her friends on her Instagram social media page.
Cultural exchange activities between the Korean Language and Culture Study Program (BKK) and Kyungpook National University (KNU) are annual routine activities, which started in 2015. Usually, these activities are conducted offline during the holidays before UGM starts teaching and learning activities in the spring semester. However, since the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, this activity has started to be conducted online. For this year, the cultural exchange activities will also be held online from January 09-20, 2023. The participants of the activity consisted of the BKK team and the KNU team, where the KNU team consisted of 18 students from various departments, 1 university staff member and 1 supervisor. Then, the BKK team consisted of the first and second year students of the BKK Study Program with a total of 52 students.
November 25, 2022 – Korean Language and Culture Study Program collaborated with Sejong Haktang to hold a joint public lecture. This public lecture was held in 2 sessions at 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. with different materials and speakers.
November 22, 2022 – UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program and Korindo Foundation held the Korindo Foundation Scholarship Awarding Event for Higher Education for the period 2022/2023.
On Saturday (03/26/2022), the UGM Korean Language and Culture Student Association (Himahara) successfully held one of its work programs entitled “Kometshow 2022: Korean Major Talk Show”. This activity aims to introduce the UGM Korean Language and Culture program to the general public, especially prospective new students. The event was held online through the Zoom video conferencing platform and was very lively and enthusiastically received by the participants.
In the 2021/2022 academic year, UGM’s Korean Language and Culture Program sent five of its students to participate in an exchange student program abroad. Not only Korea but also Italy was among the destinations for this semester’s exchange students. The universities that hosted the students this time were the University of Padua, Korea University, Kyungpook National University, Jeonbuk National University, and Busan University of Foreign Studies.
