On August 9-10th, 2023, The Korean Language and Culture Program Studies participated in the National Seminar on Korean Language and Culture Education in Indonesia: Challenges and Strategies (한국어 교육 학술회의: 인도네시아 한국어 한국 문화 교육의 도전과 과제).

This event was held in collaboration between King Sejong Institute of Centre (KSIC) Indonesia and the UI Korean Language and Culture program studies held in the context of 50 years of Indonesia-South Korea relations at the Auditorium Building 1, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia. The panelists of this event were lecturers and teachers from KSIC, UI, UGM, UNAS, UPI and Pelbakori as well as students/learners from KSIC, UI UGM, UNAS, and UPI.

Meanwhile, the participants came from Korean language teachers/prospective teachers and Korean language students/learners. The representative from UGM on the first day was Mr. Suray Agung Nugroho S.S., M.A., Ph.D. who presented a seminar on the theme of challenges and solutions/Strategies for Learning Korean Post Covid 19 (Pandemic). Then, on the second day, the representative from UGM was continued by Miss. Alfiana Amrin Rosyadi, S.S., M.A. who presented a seminar on the theme of Challenges in Learning and Researching Literature in Indonesia: the case study of UGM.

Not only lecturers, UGM also sent one of the students from  Korean Language and Culture, the class of 2018, Roro ‘Ayniy Rohmatulloh, as one of the panelists for the event. Roro explained the presentation on “Translation Errors and Noun Phrase Translation Strategies in Hidup Apa Adanya Translation from Essay Book ‘나는 나로 살기로 했다’ (Naneun Naro Salgiro Haetda)”. Roro was selected as a panelist not only because of her interesting presentation, but also because the GPA she got was the highest.

With Roro’s participation as one of the panelists in the National Seminar on Korean Language and Culture Education in Indonesia: Challenges and Strategies, it once again proved that the abilities of the UGM Korean Language and Culture Program Studies students are excellent and qualified. Hopefully in the future there will be more achievements by fellow students from the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program! Once again, we congratulate Roro! ^^
