17th of  November 2023 – Korean Language and Culture Program Studies of UGM organized an awarding ceremony of Korindo Scholarship. The lecturers and the freshmen studens attended the event. The event was started by a traditional Korean Fan Dance or well known as Buchaechum and continued to the opening  speech of Faculty of Cultural Science’s dean, Prof. Dr. Setiadi, S.Sos., M.Si and the speech of Korindo’s representative,Mr. Seo Jeong Sik as a general secretary of Korindo.

On January 12, 2024, Cheil Jedang Indonesia Inc, Jombang Plant visited the UGM Faculty of Cultural Sciences to provide work opportunities to alumni of the Korean Language and Culture Study Program by carrying out a direct recruitment process. This activity began with a presentation from the company regarding the company’s history and branches. Then the presentation continued with the introduction of a company branch located in Jombang, East Java more specifically. The activity continued with the first recruitment procedure, a psychological test by the recruitment team.
After the psychological test was completed, it continued and ended with a direct interview by HR team of Cheil Jedang Indonesia Inc., Jombang Plant. This direct recruitment process by Cheil Jedang Indonesia Inc., is certainly a good opportunity for alumni and students of the Korean Language and Culture Study Program to get the opportunity to work in the field that matches the knowledge gained during their studies. The country where students are sent is not only Korea, but America is also one of the destination countries to learn on this semester’s exchange opportunity. Yogyakarta, 23 February 2024 – The Korean Language and Culture study program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences UGM, has held a public lecture for the Comprehensive Korean Language 2 course. The Comprehensive Korean Language 2 course includes learning about Korean in the business world. This course conducted as a result of the cooperation of the Korean Language and Culture Program and the Korea Foundation with lecturers from South Korea. The Comprehensive Korean Language Public Lecture 2 was held online via the Zoom platform at 13.30 western Indonesian time. Yogyakarta, March 8, 2024 – A public lecture on Korean culture was held successfully at the Auditorium of the Soegondo building, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Gadjah Mada University. This public lecture was held because of cooperation among UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program, Korean Cultural Center Indonesia (KCCI), Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) Indonesia, and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Korea. Ewha Womans University visited the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program UGM again to strengthen cooperation with the Korean Language and Culture Study Program, Faculty of Humanities UGM. This event took place on Monday, April 29, 2024, in the multimedia room in the Margono Building, Faculty of Humanities UGM.

This event began with a presentation by Ewha Womans University regarding opportunities to continue studying the master’s program there. The presentation starts from the study programs offered to the scholarships that can be obtained to support tuition fees. After 30 minutes, Ewha Womans University gave a quiz to the participants. Participants who can answer the quiz questions are given special merchandise prizes typical of Ewha Womans University, which is cat-shaped key chain. read more

On Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the Handover of Shinhan Bank Indonesia Scholarship to outstanding students of the Korean Language and Culture Study Program Faculty of Humanities UGM was held. This scholarship grant ceremony was attended by all lecturers and students of the class of 2023 of the Korean Language and Culture Study Program. The opening of the event began with a Buchaechum performance, and continued with an opening speech by Suray Agung Nugroho, S.S., M.A., Ph.D. and Head of Bank Shinhan Yogyakarta Branch, namely Mr Mirza Himawan. Then, the event continued with calling the names of students from the Korean Language and Culture Study Program, who received scholarships. Yogyakarta, March 18, 2024 – Kagama Korea, through the Korean Language and Culture Study Program, provides scholarships to several selected students. The scholarships were awarded to five student’s class of 2023. This time, the submission of Kagama Korea scholarship was presented by Mr. Suray Agung Nugroho, S.S., M.A., Ph.D.

After the handover of the scholarship, the series of events continued with the submission of Korean history books to students of the 2023 Korean Language and Culture Study Program. This Korean history book was written by Prof. Yang Seung-yoon as Chairman of the Special Branch of Kagama South Korea. We hope that this activity can become a medium for continued cooperation between the Korean Language and Culture Study Program UGM and Kagama Korea. In addition, we really hope that this event will motivate Korean Language and Culture Study Program students to continue to develop themselves. (FDK)

Jakarta, 8 June, 2024 – The UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program sent five of its students to participate in the final round of the 22nd K-Speech Oratory Contest Indonesia hosted by the Indonesia Korea Speech Eloquence Association which took place at the National University (UNAS). The five students are Ida Ayu Nastiti, Anggita Lintang Herdiwan, Nasywa Athallah Putri, Firmansyah Haryo Yudhoyono, and Naufal Java Fakhriansyah. The event began with a Dongari’s performance from UNAS students and was followed by Big Group Oration Speeches from each university, including UGM which successfully submitted the Big Group Oration Speeches via video. The event continued with the introduction of the jury and a welcoming speech from the person in charge of this event. After completing the series of events, as many as 27 individual category participants also performed in the order determined by the committee, then a team competition involving 7 teams was also held. While waiting for the results of the jury’s assessment, the event was filled with a door prize distribution session and evaluation of the overall performance of the participants. Then, prizes were handed over and a group photo session was held to close the event.
UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program students won several winners in this competition. These students are Anggita Lintang Herdiwan who won first place in the individual category, and Nasywa Athallah Putri, Firmansyah Haryo Yudhoyono, and Naufal Java Fakhriansyah won third place in the team category. The five students of the UGM Korean Language and Culture Study Program who qualified for the final round to convey their impressions about this competition. Following are the impressions they convey.

“This is really the first time for the three of us to be a one team and take part in the Korean Oratory Contest.
